Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Jude's Catholic Church for Eraclio E. Alvarez, 80, of Ceres. He died Feb. 25, 2008.

Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements, including interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Jan. 7, 1928, Mr. Alvarez was a native of Arteaga, Michoacan, Mexico. He lived in Ceres since 2004 and previously lived in Modesto. He worked as a farm laborer for Moya Farm Contractor. Mr. Alvarez was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres. He enjoyed gardening, animals and spending time with his family.

He leaves behind his wife, Dolores Alvarez of Ceres; 12 children, Daniel Alvarez of Sonora, Mexico, Bobby Alvarez and Sylvia Alvarez, both of Modesto, Maria Fe Rodriguez of Galt, Ricardo "Prieto" Alvarez of San Luis, Ariz., Damian "Chato" Alvarez, Bertha Garcia, Eric Alvarez II, Veronica Alvarez, Ruben Alvarez, all of Ceres, Dolores Cervantes of Keyes, and Carlos Alvarez of Dublin; two brothers, Majin Alvarez of Montclair and Cruz Alvarez of Ontario; two sisters, Theresa Landa of Watsonville and Ernestina Garcia of Modesto; and 38 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
