A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Acacia Memorial Park, 801 Scenic Drive., Modesto, for Frank Blankenship, 87, of Ceres. He died Aug. 28, 2011.

Born Oct. 19, 1923 in Bridgeport, Okla., to Burnest and Lois Blankenship, Frank served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. During his life he worked at various jobs, including building the Glen Canyon Dam in Page, Ariz., and the San Luis Dam. Mr. Blankenship also worked for Garton Tractor in Turlock from where he retired. Frank was a member of the Ceres Senior Citizens Club.

He leaves behind his wife, Irene Blankenship of Ceres; daughter Nicki Rapp of Aspen, Colo.; his brother, Bud Blankenship of Titusville, Fla.; his sisters, Jo Massey of Branford, Ct., and Gayle Bullock of Oklahoma City, Okla.. He was preceded in death by son Roland Blankenship and brother Charlie Blankenship.
