A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Allen Mortuary in Turlock for Franklin S. Brandenburg, 57, of Patterson. The former Ceres resident died Nov. 2, 2007 from complications with lung cancer.

Until the very end he touched the hearts of his loved ones through his humor and positive outlook toward life.

Burial will follow at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery near Santa Nella.

Born March 13, 1950, Mr. Brandenburg grew up in Ceres and attended Ceres city schools. He served in the Army, building roads and bridges all over the world. Mr. Brandenburg was a Little League baseball coach, and provided homes to many stray dogs over the years.

He leaves behind his wife, Valerie Brandenburg of Patterson; three sons, Frank Brandenburg, Jeffery Brandenberg and Mark Brandenburg; his brothers, Tom Brandenburg and Mike Brandenburg; and three sisters, Darlene, Shirley and Carroll. He was preceded in death by daughter Gena, and brothers, Pat and Terry.
