A memorial service was held Saturday at Baptist Temple in Modesto for Franklin Rasby Payne, 86, of south Modesto. He died peacefully on Nov. 21, 2011 in Modesto.
The McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.
Born April 6, 1925 in Porum, Okla., Franklin was was a longtime member and Deacon at Baptist Temple in Modesto. He loved to garden.
He leaves behind his children, Lynda Franklin and Patsy Payne, both of Modesto; Shirley Brooke of Coolidge, Ariz., and Thomas Payne of Citrus Heights; his brother, Harvey Payne of Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Andy Roden, Shari Hughes and Anthony Franklin, all of Modesto, Jennifer Mendoza of Keyes, Allen Brooke of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Sarah Payne and Jessica Payne, both of Citrus Heights; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Autery Payne, and five siblings.
