A graveside service was held Saturday afternoon at Ceres Memorial Park for Gavin T. Spensley, 82, of Ceres. He died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005 at Elness Convalescent Hospital.

The Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born April 2, 1923, Mr. Spensley was a native of Atwater, and lived in Ceres for 63 years. He was a real estate broker. Mr. Spensley was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10293 of Ceres, and American Legion Post 74 of Modesto.

He leaves behind four children, Reginald Spensley of Denair, Thomas Spensley of Turlock, Denis Spensley of Kimberly, Idaho, and Randy Spensley of Perry, Ga.; and 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
