A graveside service was held a the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery at Santa Nella for Gaylor F. George Lucas, 85, of Ceres. He died July 19, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Oklahoma in June 1925 to Samuel and Sallie Lucas. Gaylor moved to California as a young boy. He married his lifelong companion Lola Mae and raised a family. Mr. Lucas was employed as a refrigeration engineer at Merchants Refrigeration plant in Modesto for 39 years. His wife Lola preceded him in death just two years ago after nearly 60 years of marriage.
He leaves behind his daughter, Linda Lucas of Modesto; a brother, Winfred Lucas of Waterford; two grandchildren, Tommy Lee Buckhanan of Ceres, and April Sunshine Lucas of Modesto; and a great-grandson, Skyler L. Buckhanan of Ceres. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Arlana "Gaylene" Lucas, son David Sheldon Lucas, brothers James Wesley Lucas and Paul Dean Lucas, sister Audrey Heflin, and by a granddaughter Jennifer Nettie Mae Page.
