A funeral was held Friday at The Gospel Tabernacle in Ceres for Gene Lawrence Tackett, 82. He died August 13, 2010 in Arizona.
Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel was in charge of burial at Acacia Memorial Park.
Born Feb. 27, 1928 in Texas, Gene lived in the Modesto area most of his life. He worked in transportation most of his career. After he retired he enjoyed making and restoring toys for little children of the church, and his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending church and reading his Bible. He married his wife Betty Louise Tackett on February 25, 1946.
He leaves behind his children, Ronald Tackett of Modesto, James Tackett of Arizona, and Sheila Tackett of Ripon; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, parents Rev. Reuben and Coralee Tackett, and brothers Lee A. Tackett and Deon Tackett.
