A memorial service was held Saturday at Ceres Valley View Church of the Nazarene for Jenny Wade, 70, of Ceres. She died May 5, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Lakewood Memorial Park was in charge of private burial.

Mrs. Wade was born Oct. 8, 1937 on an Indian Reservation in Davenport, Okla. to James and Omalee Marshall. She lived in Oakdale for 27 years and Ceres for six years. Mrs. Wade was a caregiver for years and also worked for Foster Farms Hatchery for 25 years before retiring. She enjoyed fishing, camping, playing slots and playing bingo in Ceres with her friends.

She leaves behind her daughter, Virginia Higle of Ceres; her sister, Virginia Slane of Oakdale; her granddaughters, Shawna Higle of Ceres, Rebecca Steed of Oakdale, Belinda and Tara Steed of Tennessee and Samantha McVey of Arizona; three grandsons, Michael Steed of Oakdale, William and Nicholas Steed of Tennessee; one great-granddaughter; three stepchildren, Claudia Parra and Debra Parr of Modesto, and Dennis Wade of Southern California; and seven step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Stanley Steed, Floyd Sneed Jr. and Michael Steed, grandson Timmy Higle and husbands Floyd Steed and Lee Wade.
