A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Lakewood Memorial Park for George Richard Bowen, 76, of Ceres. He died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.

Born March 25, 1929, Mr. Bowen was a native of Oklahoma, and had lived in Ceres for 62 years. He was a transportation management specialist for the U.S. government. Mr. Bowen was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing and working on cars.

He leaves behind his wife, Margaret G. Bowen of Ceres; his son, Richard Bowen of Merced; and his brother, Homer Bowen of Hughson.
