A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28 in the Samaritan Village chapel in Hughson, for Giulia "Julia" Girolami, 95, of Hughson. She died Aug. 5, 2008 at Samaritan Village in Hughson where she was a charter resident in the assisted living facility.

Burial was at the Catholic Cemetery in Santa Clara.

Born April 14, 1913 in Lucca, Italy to Italo and Dina Franchini Luchetti, Giulia immigrated to the United States after marrying Cesare Girolami in 1938. She lived in San Jose as a homemaker until after her husband's death in 1988. Mrs. Girolami moved to Samaritan Village in 2003 from San Jose.

She leaves behind her children, retired Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge Al Girolami of Oakdale, Diane Griffin of Rio Vista; and her grandchildren, Cat Westover of Atherton, Carol Ann Varni of Denair, Dina Cortez of Stockton, and Jason Griffin of Tucson, Ariz.; and six great-grandchildren, Amelia Varni, Nella Varni, Eva Varni, Foster Westover, Gavin Westover, and Mateo Cortez. She was preceded in death by two siblings in Italy.

Remembrances may be sent to Samaritan Village, 7700 Fox Road, Hughson, CA 95326; or to the Alexander Cohen Hospice House, 2201 Euclid Ave., Hughson, CA 95326.
