A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs Funeral Home, 704 12th Street, Modesto, for Harold Darl Grissom, 85, of south Modesto. He died Jan. 12, 2011.

Burial will follow at Ceres Memorial Park.

A meal and fellowship will to follow at Ceres United Pentecostal Church, 3315 Central Ave., Ceres.

Born Feb. 27, 1925 in Okmoggie, Okla., Harold was the third born son of Marion and Bulla Grissom. His parents moved Harold and his 7 siblings to Atwater in 1943. At the age of 33 he met the love of his life, Roberta Louise Garcia, and they married on Nov. 12 1958. They raised seven children, Carmen, Frank, George and Steve and daughters Terri, Sandra and Lori. Mr. Grissom resided in south Modesto since 1971.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Roberta Grissom of south Modesto; his children, Frank Grissom, George Grissom, Steve Grissom, Terri Grissom, Sandra Grissom and Lori Thomas; and 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Carmen Grissom, grandson Daniel Thomas, great-granddaughters Heaven Lee Hicks and Cambria Grissom.
