A memorial celebration was held Sunday at Coralwood Mobile Home Park in Modesto for Helen D. Pierson, 78, of Modesto. She died March 31, 2009 at her home.

Born Sept. 25, 1930 to Bert and Bertha Forest, Helen attended MJC's School For Vocational Nursing in 1957. She began her work at Modesto City Hospital and then at Memorial Hospital in Ceres. After the new Doctors Hospital opened, she proudly helped in establishing the nursery. Due to an unfortunate medical condition, she had to retire after only 15 years. She and her late husband, Pete Pierson, then established Deluxe Antenna Service. She, as co-owner, managed the sales and bookkeeping for 25 years.

After 38 years of marriage, she divorced and moved to the Coralwood Mobile Home Park where she lived out the remainder of her life.

She leaves behind four daughters, Carole Hammonds of Ceres, Patricia Reed and Alice Pierson both of Modesto, and Cathy Schwanz of Moreno Valley; two brothers, Fred Forrest of Denair and Ken Forest of Modesto.

Remembrances may be sent to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
