A memorial service was held Tuesday evening at Celebration Center in Modesto for Herschel Franklin Jones, 70, of Ceres. He died Aug. 26, 2010.
The service will also pay tribute to his recently departed wife of 49 years, Judith Roberta Blodgette Jones who died Aug. 22, 2009.
Born Nov. 10, 1939 in Ash Grove, Mo. Herschel spent 15 years in the U.S. Navy, serving in the U.S., Guam, Japan and Vietnam. He also worked in telecommunications and spent several years living in Ceres. He enjoyed reading and crime shows. He served in leadership in his church sharing his love of God.
He leaves behind his children, Meschell, James, and Jennifer; and his stepchildren, Judy, Rebecca and Gerald Blodgette; and numerous grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
