Funeral services were held Friday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel for Inez Dorothy Cash of Modesto. She died April 8, 2008 at her home following a series of strokes over the last several months.

Mrs. Cash was born in Oklahoma into a family of 12 children. The family made a pilgrimage from Oklahoma through Phoenix to California in 1936 in a 1929 Chevrolet coupe and a 1930 four-door sedan, each towing a trailer with their mom's sewing machine, some kitchen utensils, and clothes. Starting in November, the family caravan took a week to get to Phoenix where we they stopped to work in the lettuce and cotton fields until July 1937. Then they moved on to Patterson, where the family picked apricots.

Inez met Eugene "Gene" Cash at the Pentecostal Church of God in Hughson in 1943 and they later were married on Jan. 18, 1944. They lived in Modesto for many years. They have been a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church of God in Modesto for more than 20 years. Her stepfather, Ernest Whetstone was pastor of the Pentecostal Church of God in Riverbank at the time of his death in 1955.

She leaves behind her her husband of 64 years, Gene Cash of Modesto; four children, Virginia Bressman, Virgil Cash, Richard Cash and Rodney Cash; and four siblings, Marvin Clonts, Jewel Turner, Meldia Wood Nichols and Mert Nicholson, all of Modesto; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
