James M. "Jim" King

August 21, 1937 - April 16, 2017

There will be a Celebration of Life at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 27 at Salas Brothers, 419 Scenic Drive, Modesto, for James M. "Jim" King who passed away on April 16, 2017 after battling Alzheimer's Disease.

Born in Modesto, on Aug. 21, 1937 to George and Virginia King, Jim attended Westport

Grammar School and Ceres High School. He worked in the dairy industry and for both DeCardo and New Deal markets.
After his retirement in 1999 Jim worked for nephew Joe Machado hauling hay.

In his younger years Jim played baseball and later softball, playing on a Senior Softball Traveling Team and co-ed softball team The Moons.

He enjoyed hunting but his passion was bass fishing, fishing in tournaments in his sparkly blue boat.

Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus, attended St. Jude's Church in Ceres and was involved in the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the church Fall Festival
Jim married the Marlene and they have two sons, Jimmy and Danny, who survive him. Jim was blessed with a granddaughter, Karley.

Jim enjoyed celebrating holidays, being with family and friends and especially traveling with Karley.

Jim is also survived by his sisters, M. Dolores Machado, Bernadine Corey (Mick); his brother, Mervin King (Barbara); granddaughter Karley; nephew and nieces, Joe Machado (Arlene), Judy Roberts (Kevin), Alena Chappell (Jeremy) and Jeanelle Corey; and great nephews and nieces, Andrew and Brandon Roberts, Kaylie (Daniel w/Knightley and Knixon), Kamryn (Brandon), Keaton Machado and Lucas Chappell.

In lieu of flowers the family requests remebrances be sent in Jim's name to Community Hospice Foundation, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto CA 95356.

The family would like to thank the staff at Paramount Generations and Community Hospice for the care that was given Jim.
