A Mass was held Monday morning at St. Jude's Catholic Church for Jim Collins Deckard, 64, of Ceres. He died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at his home.
Burial was at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Modesto under the direction of Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel.
Born May 19, 1940, Mr. Deckard was a native of Northview, Mo., and lived in Ceres since 2002. He was a trucker for Ken Gallup Trucking for 42 years. Mr. Deckard was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, and Shriners Club of Springfield, Mo. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, camping, Mexican food and music.
He leaves behind his wife, Beatrice A. Deckard of Ceres; five children, Jeff White of Modesto, Lisa Cahoone of Hughson, Teresa Balazs of Merced, Roger Deckard of Springfield, Mo., and Darren Deckard of Bozeman, Mont.; two brothers, Eddie Deckard and Bob Deckard, both of Springfield; two sisters, Samantha Deckard of Springfield and Betty Cox of Salem, Mo.; and 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Deckard; and one brother and one sister.
