Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel for Joe Pombo, 62, of Keyes. He died March 3, 2008 after a long illness.

A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Lakewood Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Aug. 20, 1945, Mr. Pombo was born in Hopeton, and was a resident of Keyes most of his life. He owned and operated Pombo's Backhoe Service. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping as well as all outdoor activities. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was eager to lend a hand to anyone needing it. He loved making new friends.

He leaves behind his daughter, Raelyn Pombo of Keyes; his mother, Mary Marks; his step-daughter, Kimberly Ball of Georgia; three step-sons, Joe Price and Mike Price, both of Washington, and Mitch Price of Georgia; six brothers, David Pombo of Keyes, Ernie Pombo of Louisiana, Louie Pombo of Hilmar, Frank Pombo of Winton, John Pombo of Idaho, and Manuel Pombo of Atwater; four sisters, Lucille Penrod of Snelling, Pat Cairncross of Modesto, Virginia Armas of Groveland and Mary Garcia of Don Pedro; and his granddaughter Hailey Pombo of Keyes. He was preceded in death by his father Manuel Pombo, step-father Louie Marks, and two brothers.
