John Paul Harless

August 30, 1966 – April 21, 2025

John Paul Harless, a Ceres High School basketball legend, passed away at the age of 58 on Monday, April 21, 2025.

John Paul Harless was brought into this world on August 30, 1966, to John and Patricia Harless in Ceres. He was called to rest on April 21, 2025 and laid to rest at the Ceres Memorial Park on May 2.

He is remembered in the Ceres community for his achievements in basketball during his time at Ceres High School. In 1991, he met his true love and found his true passion of following the Most High. In 1996 he became a pastor and spent the next 22 years in the ministry. His efforts were spent seeking the truth of the scriptures and providing for his family. He was a strong and self-sufficient man and a rock for his family.

In departure, he leaves behind his wife of 34 years Tereesa, and their six children, John “Chipper”, Rhett, Abigail, William, Michiah and Gideon. He is survived by his brothers Joshua “Cooper,” Julio and Jordan Harless, his sister April Cervantes, their spouses along with nieces and nephews; as well as his mother, Patricia Harless, his father John “Bucky” Harless, and stepmother Gloria Harless.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Alberta Harless and sister Lisa Oliver.
