A funeral Mass was held Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock for Jose Garcia, 99, of Ceres. He died on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 in Modesto.
Burial was in Mexico under the direction of Allen Mortuary.
Born May 1910 in Michoacan, Mexico, to Juan and Maria Garcia, Jose lived in Ceres for six years. Mr. Garcia enjoyed singing and taking care of family and friends at their time of need but most of all, God and family were his life.
He leaves behind seven children, Nicolas, Ramon, Reynaldo, Consuelo, Jose, Salvador, and Esperanza; and 51 grandchildren and 101 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Teodola Garcia and children Carolina and Elpidio.
