A graveside service was held Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery for Joseph Luiz Verissimo Jr., 61, of Modesto. He died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 at Doctors Medical Center.
Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Born Feb. 23, 1943, Mr. Verissimo was a native and lifelong resident of Modesto. He was a truck driver for 30 years, primarily working for Rudy Bonzi and Bertolotti Disposal in the Ceres area. He also worked for California Vegetable Concentrate near Ceres for 10 years. Mr. Verissimo was a member of the Modesto Portuguese Association, UPPEC and SES. He enjoyed deep sea fishing. Mr. Verissimo served in the Army in 1966.
He leaves behind five children, Joseph L. Verissimo and Rodney Anthony Verissimo, both of Modesto, Timothy William Verissimo of Lafayette, Ind., Gregory Leon Jones of Salida and Paula Renee White of Modesto; his parents, Joe and Emily Verissimo Sr. of Modesto; his sister, Diane Lee Saska of Modesto; and nine grandchildren.
