A private memorial will be held at the Turlock Memorial Park at a yet-to-be determined for Joyce Rosalie Olmsted Moore, 91, of Turlock. He died on Nov 1, 2011 in Sacramento following a stroke two days prior.

Born July 3, 1920, Mrs. Moore spent her first 81 years living in Turlock before moving to Sacramento in 2002 to be near her daughter. She attended Turlock schools, graduating from Turlock High School in 1937 and Modesto Junior College in 1939. Joyce earned a Science in Nursing degree from UC Berkeley in 1942 and received her teacher credential from Stanislaus State in 1961. She was an registered nurse in Turlock in the 1940's and then an elementary school teacher at Don Pedro and Caswell Elementary Schools in Ceres until retiring in 1981. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Turlock and enjoyed travel with the Turlock Pleasure Seekers and membership in the Alpha, Delta, Kappa Sorority.

She leaves behind three children, Ken Moore of Turlock, Kathy Moore of Sacramento, and Don Moore of Oregon; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Elray R. Moore.

Remembrances may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 1660 Arbor Way, Turlock, CA 95380 with a memo for the UMW or the Heifer Project.
