A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Victory Assembly of God Church, 1960 E. Hatch Road, Ceres, for Kenneth Leon Whitehead, 68, of Ceres. He died June 27, 2008 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson following complications with diabetes. Lunch will follow the celebration.

Born Oct. 12, 1939, Mr. Whitehead had pastored several churches in the Vally over his 30 years of ministry. He was an accomplished musician who could play numerous stringed instruments. During his younger days his playing abilities on the guitar earned him the nickname, "Lightning Leon." Mr. Whitehead had been a member of the Joaquin Singers gospel group.

He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Janice Whitehead of Ceres; four children, Rozanne Whitehead of Ceres, Eric Whitehead of Lodi, and Tim Whitehead and Darrell Whitehead, both of Waterford; his brother, Alvin Whitehead; his sister, Betty Kelly; and eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by parents A.C. and Dora Lee Whitehead, and brother Sherrill.
