A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Mehl's Colonial Chapel for Kenneth W. Buoy, 80, of Watsonville. He died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 at his home.

A celebration of life will follow at 451 Cloudview Drive, Watsonville.

Born June 5, 1925, Mr. Buoy was a native of Modesto and was raised in Ceres. He graduated from San Francisco State University and taught math and science in Ceres. He also served as executive director of VNA for several years. During World War II, Mr. Buoy served in the Army Air Corp as a pilot. He developed a lifelong love of airplanes.

After retiring from teaching, Mr. Buoy served as an aide to then state Assemblyman Clare Berryhill of Ceres. He then later worked for a property manager in Salinas. Mr. Buoy was past president and long-time member of the Ceres and Salinas Lions clubs. He enjoyed fishing, traveling in his motorhome and cooking.

Mr. Buoy leaves behind his wife, Nancy Doering Buoy of Watsonville; three children, Gloria “Jim” Hopper, Debbie Buou and Shelly “Reggie” Jantz; two stepchildren, Suzanne “Vic” Madden and Cindy “Kevin” Mitz; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Remembrances may be sent to Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018; or to a favorite charity.
