A memorial service was held on Sunday at the Ceres Seventh-day Adventist Church for Kittie Bethine Carter Cardey, 79, of Ceres. She died July 9, 2009.
Born Jan. 14, 1930 in Colusa, Kittie graduated from Modesto Adventist Academy in 1947. She worked for the Seventh-day Adventist Community Services for 35 years. Mrs. Cardey was the Modesto Adventist Academy Alumni Secretary since 1996. She went back to college in 1997 to learn the computer. In March of 2004 she started working at the Modesto Police Department as a police assistant, working on the computer.
She leaves behind her son, Patrick Cardey of Ceres; her stepdaughter, Sondra Peeples of Missouri; her stepson, David Cardey of Modesto; and six grandchildren, two granddaughters, Cathryn Tambs of Modesto and Carolyn Tambs of Sacramento and five great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by husband Clarence Dale Cardey, and daughter Linda Lu Cardey.
