A Celebration of Life was held Saturday at Village Chapel, 1825 Central Avenue, Ceres, for Larry Dwayne Gross, 72, of Ceres. He died last month.

Born August 1937 in Whittier to George 'Jack' and Mildred Gross, Larry lived in Oklahoma until high school. He moved to Modesto where Larry attended and graduated from Modesto High School. Soon after high school Larry worked with his father in the cement construction business. Through the years Mr. Gross has worked on a number of key projects such as the highway and bridges through the Altamont Pass, the Delta-Mendota Canal. Larry married Marty McNary in November of 1983. They have lived in the Modesto, Sacramento, and Ceres area since then. Mr. Gross was a bartender and owned the Cowboy-Up Bar. When he lived in Sacramento he also owned the California Saddlery Shop.

He leaves behind his wife, Marty Gross; his children, Barbara Gross of Hilmar, Greg Gross of Sacramento, Ken Gross of Turlock, Kathleen Caudle of Sacramento, Mark Arnold of Oakdale, Steve Arnold of Riverbank, and Donna Nunez of Plumas Lake; his sister, Ann Patterson of Oregon; her brother, Ray Gross of Antioch; and 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda Phinney.
