A funeral service was held Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson for Larry Paul Michelotti, 65, of Modesto. He died Feb. 23, 2011.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Larry was born Sept. 17, 1945 in Tacoma, Wash., to Paul and Lena Michelotti, Larry grew up in Berkeley. He married Joan in 1969 in San Francisco. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Masters in counseling psychology from the University of San Francisco, and his school psychology credential from CSU Hayward. Mr. Michelotti moved his family to Modesto in 1981. He was a school psychologist with the Sylvan Union School District for 27 years, retiring in 2008. He then worked as a part-time school psychologist at Westport School in the Ceres School District. He started running at age 49 and over the last 12 years completed 25 marathons with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team-in-Training program, the last in the San Francisco Women's Nike Marathon in October 2010. He helped raise $100,000 to help find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and other blood related cancers. Tragically, Larry was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia in December.

He leaves behind his wife, Joan Michelotti; his children, Matthew Michelotti of Los Angeles, Sarah Michelotti of Modesto; his mother, Lena Michelotti of Belmont; and his sister, Barbara Forner of San Bruno. He was preceded in death by father Paul Michelotti.
