Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday July 18, at the Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs, 12th & G streets, Modesto, for Lila Luz Manzano-Brown, 89, of Ceres. She died July 11, 2009.

Born July 1, 1920 in El Salvador, San Salvador, Lila was a teacher in San Salvador for 33 years. She also taught adults how to read and write. After she retired from teaching, Mrs. Manzano-Brown settled in the United States and became a citizen. Lila lived in Ceres for 13 years. She enjoyed traveling abroad, knitting, crocheting, reading, and cooking.

She leaves behind her daughter, Sonia Lara of Ceres; seven grandchildren, Carlos Sagastume, Alex Sagastume, Richard Sagastume, Annette Myles, Jesus Lara Jr., Leonardo Lara, and Susanna Lara; 10 great-grandchildren, Erica Sagastume, Krystal Rodriguez, Richard Sagastume Jr., Raquel Sagastume, Jesus Sagastume, Sophia Sagastume, Nicole Myles, Christina Sagastume, Cian Sagastume, Saoirse Lila Sagastume; and two great-great-grandchildren, Jordan Sagastume and Nayeli De Anda.
