A funeral service was held Thursday at Richland Faith Assembly of God for Lorene May Ramsay, 88, of Modesto. She died June 29, 2008 in Turlock.

Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Born April13, 1920 in Pittsburg, Okla., Lorene May Luker grew up in Oklahoma. She married Horace Edgar Ramsay on Sept. 1, 1939 in McAlister, Okla., then moved to Seagraves, Texas to farm in the early 1940s. They came to California with their family following the fruit harvest, eventually settling in Modesto in 1955, and calling it home. While raising a family of five Lorene began working for CVC, then she spent 25 years with Tillie Lewis, and Del Monte canneries for 10 years. She retired at age 69. Mrs. Ramsay was a past member of Riverview Four Square Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and song leader. She was an active, devoted member of Richland Faith Assembly of God in Ceres for many years and was the past president of the Women's Ministries. She loved the Lord and her beautiful family and friends. Mrs. Ramsay enjoyed reading the Bible, sewing and quilting, tending to her rose garden, and growing and canning fruits and vegetables. Lorene enjoyed traveling all over the United States and to the Holy Land, Greece, Europe and Mexico.

She leaves behind five children, Garland Ramsay, Donald Ramsay, Wilma Coyle, Randie Richards, and Ricky Ramsay; two brothers, Gene Luker and Ted Luker; her sister, Dola Herrin; sisters-in-law, Katherin Luker and Occie Luker; and 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents Vergie and Estell Luker, husband, Horace Ramsay, brothers, Don Luker and Lloyd Luker, sisters Wendola Luker, Helen Horn, and Willie Wilson; and newborn twin sons.
