A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Lakewood Memorial Park for Lou Emma Groves, 83, of Modesto. She died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at Hy-Lond Convalescent Hospital.

Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Born Nov. 15, 1922, Mrs. Groves was a native of Indianola, Okla., and lived in Modesto for 30 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Free Will Baptist Church in Turlock, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Ceres.

She leaves behind two sons, Bobby D. Groves of Modesto and Paul Thomas Groves of Ceres; five sisters, Elizabeth Poland of Sun City, Margaret Mello and Maxine Barker, both of Bakersfield, Ruth Beck of Buffalo, Mo., and Helen Copeland of Fresno; and 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Thomas Groves; and children, Ramona Carol Barrett and Douglas Hoyle Groves.
