A funeral service was held Saturday in the Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel for Louise Link Jones, 93, of Modesto. She died Feb. 24, 2010.

Born April 1, 1916 as the oldest daughter of 10 children, Louise was raised in a small town in the Ozarks in southwest Missouri. When she was 18 in 1935 she came to Salida. At a farm labor camp she met her future husband in Ray Jones. They were married 72 years until his death in 2008. Mrs. Jones worked as a house keeper, a cannery worker and then after studying at Modesto Junior College became a licensed vocational nurse. Louis worked at Memorial Hospital in Ceres for many years.

She leaves behind three daughters, Rayma Ernest of Valley Springs, Margueriete Lambert of Ballico and Ruby Gray of Modesto; her sister, Montez Cloud of Vanita, Okla.;11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
