A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs for Loyd "Red" G. Adams, 94, of Ceres. He died March 3, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto after a lengthy illness.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Born Nov. 27, 1913, Mr. Adams was a native of Oklahoma and lived in Ceres since 1972. He previously lived in Modesto. He was a retired auto mechanic. Mr. Adams enjoyed water skiing, tinkering around on cars and engines and spending time with friends and family. He was a member of Ceres Church of Christ.

He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Clara Adams of Ceres; his children, Joe Adams of Ceres, Roberta Genasci of Manteca, and Marlyn Filan, Peggy Jackson and Barbara McGhee, all of Modesto; his brother, John Adams of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and grandson Jeffrey Jackson.
