A memorial service was held Tuesday at Grace Community Christian Church in Ceres for Mae Grace Evans Slater, 89, of Modesto. She died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004 at her home.

Born Dec. 14, 1914, Mrs. Slater was a native of Oklahoma and lived in for Modesto 26 years. She was a homemaker and member of Grace Community Christian Church in Ceres.
She leaves behind four children, Ben Slater of Layton, Utah, Victor Slater of Sparks, Nev., Marie Szczotka of Bonefay, Fla., and Mary Carlson of Los Lunas, N.M.; and 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Martha Butler.
