Manuel Francis Damas

A funeral Mass was held Friday at St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Riverbank for Hughson native Manuel F. Damas, 93, of Oakdale. He died May 9, 2010.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Riverbank Memorial Chapel.

Born Jan. 7, 1917, Manuel was a native of Hughson as one of seven children of Antone and Mary Damas. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1946. While World War II was raging he fought in campaigns in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Upon his return home he married Emily Texeira and had 2 children, Ronald Damas and Debra (Damas) Knoll. Mr. Damas owned his own dairy for over 35 years. He was very active with the Turlock Pentecost Association for over 30 years.

He leaves behind his daughter, Debra Damas Knoll; his brother, George Damas; and his sister Mary Damas Perry. He was preceded in death by wife Emily Damas, son Ronald Damas, sisters Emily Azevedo and Genevieve Reiswig and brothers Antone Damas and Joseph Damas.
