A vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Turlock for Manuel G. Nunes, 83, of Ceres. He died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

A Mass will be at noon Thursday at the church, with burial at Turlock Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Chapel in Turlock.

Born April 1, 1921, Mr. Nunes was a native of Vilade S-o Sebatiao, Terceira, Azores, and lived in Ceres for 40 years. He was a milker for Tony Alamo Dairy for 30 years. Mr. Nunes was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Turlock.

He leaves behind his wife, Rosa M. Nunes of Ceres; five children, Jose Nunes of Salida, Manuel Nunes, Maria Costa, Fatima Stotts and Felomena Nunes, all of Modesto, and Sebastiao Nunes of Lathrop; his brother, Jo-o da Rosa of Vila S-o Sebatiao, Azores; and 14 grandchildren.
