A chapel service was held Saturday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Marcial “Canuri” Velez Jr., 54, of Ceres. He died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006
Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Born Jan. 19, 1952, Mr. Velez was a native of Elsa, Texas, and lived in Ceres for two years. Mr. Velez previously lived in Modesto for 47 years. He was a truck driver. Mr. Velez was a history buff and enjoyed classic cars, reading and photography.
He leaves behind five children, Marcial Velez III, Robert Velez, David Velez, Daniel Velez and Tania Velez; four brothers, Ramon Silva, Juan Silva, Carlos Velez and Guerrero Velez; seven sisters, Maria Ochoa, Delfina Mata, Leticia Olivera, Rosa Velez, Rueth Langrock, Margot Chavez and Margarita Flores; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcial and Maria J. Velez; and a sister.
