A funeral was held Friday at Evangelical Free Church for former Ceres resident Margaret Zavala Smith, 79, of Turlock. She died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005 at her home.
Burial was at Turlock Memorial Park under the direction of Allen Mortuary.
Born Nov. 5, 1925, Mrs. Smith was a native of Delano and lived in Turlock since 1941. She previously lived in Ceres for 16 years. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Delhi Senior Citizens Club, Eagles Club and the Turlock Evangelical Free Church.
She leaves behind three children, Donald G. Smith Jr. of Denair, Randall E. Smith of Turlock and Beverly Jones of Modesto; two brothers, David Zavala of Upland and Louie Zavala of Escalon; four sisters, Phyllis Smith of Turlock, Mary Ensslin of Modesto, Rose Ham of San Mateo and Sue Schnack of Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Smith.
