A funeral service was held Friday afternoon at the Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs for Marvin D. Warner, 81, of Ceres. He died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Born Aug. 16, 1924, Mr. Warner was a native of San Diego and had lived in Ceres since 1934. He graduated from Turlock High School in 1942. Mr. Warner was a farmer for 50 years. He served in the Army. Mr. Warner was a member of Modesto Tropical Plant Society and the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau.

He leaves behind his wife, Carole D. Warner of Ceres; two stepchildren, Burt Sweet of St. Helens, Ore., and Ed Sweet of Albany, Ore.; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
