A funeral service was held Saturday at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel for Mary Frances Corboff, 82, of Hughson. She died Feb. 18, 2010 at her home.
Born Nov. 10, 1927 in Mountain View, Mary came to Hughson in 1964 with husband Dan and their children, to farm. They started Dan's Distributing Company in 1978 and opened their first store in Modesto in 1979. Later, they opened stores in Sonora and Manteca and today, two of their children and two of their grandchildren are active in the business. Mary enjoyed cooking for friends and family and playing bridge.
She leaves behind three daughters, Carolyn Firpo of Hughson, Denise Casazza of Orange, and Mary Curtis of Hughson; her sister, Theresa Levratto of San Jose; a brother, Victor Penna of Sunnyvale; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Daniel Corboff, brother Alex Penna, and sister Ricci Chaney.
