A graveside service was held Friday at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson for Mary Lou Lancaster, 80, of Mariposa. The former Ceres resident died Feb. 20, 2011 at the John C. Fremont Hospital in Mariposa.

Turlock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born MAY 3, 1930 in Nebraska to George and Luceal Williams. Mary lived in Oakdale where she met her future husband, Hubert Lancaster. They settled down with their two children in Ceres. Mary worked for 28 years at Tri Valley Growers Canary until she retired in 1999. In 2004, Mary would move to Mariposa to be closer to son Roy Lancaster. As a resident of the Ewing Wing, skilled nursing unit, at John C. Fremont Hospital, she participated in a 2005 project, "Christmas Blessing Stockings" for Hurricane Katrina victims. They made, filled and sent 1,600 stockings to then displaced families. They continued their project each year, giving to children in need. Mary enjoyed making bead jewelry for which she won many awards at the Mariposa Fair.

She leaves behind her son, Roy Lancaster of Midpines; a brother, George Williams of Miller, Mo.; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Hubert Lancaster and daughter Linda Berg.
