A visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs in Modesto for Mary Louise Hobbs. 79, of Modesto. The former Ceres resident died Aug. 12, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Interment at Pioneer will be private. A reception location to be announced after service.

Born Sept. 16, 1929 in Ceres to the late Dwight and Hazel Perrin, Mary was a native Californian who has resided in Ceres, Ripon and Modesto. She had worked for 16 years at Grants Department Store on McHenry until it closed. She was a member of First Baptist Church, McHenry Musuem Docent Association, Storers Travel Group and Women of the Moose. Her interests included traveling, crotcheting, sewing and clipping coupons for her many shopping sprees.

She leaves behind her daughters, Sandra Akers of Ecuador, Connie Haas of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Ruby McLean of Ceres and Barbara Zaki of Granite Bay; seven grandchildren, Tina Harden, Cheri Martin, Carrie Morino, Joel Nepote, Tim Hobbs, Matthew Latham and Amanda Hobbs; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Bob Hobbs in 1992, son Terry Hobbs in 1999, sister Virginia Stroud and her parents.
