Services were held Saturday for Mary Ruth Byfield Reed, 84. She died on March 8, 2012 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, Iowa.
Born on January 14, 1928, in Hughson to Frank and Margaret Shotts Byfield, Mary graduated from Ceres High School in 1945 and married Hayes Reed on May 5, 1948. She traveled with her husband for many years as he held Dunkard Brethren revival meetings throughout the United States. She moved to Dallas Center in 2006 to be with her husband during his final days. Mrs. Reed worked for Sears, Doctors Medical Center, co-owned and operated Ideal Cleaners and for nearly four decades was employed in Modesto City School District elementary school cafeterias.
She leaves behind two children, Gloria Haldeman of Dallas Center, Iowa, and Gary Reed of Rocklin; six grandchildren, Ryan Haldeman, Tiffany Neal, B. Wade Haldeman, Corey Reed, Zachary Reed, and Justin Lindow; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Grant, Ella, Meredith, Whitney, Tyler and Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and three brothers.
