Allen Mortuary was in charge of a graveside service held Friday at Turlock Memorial Park for Mary Theresa Pollack, 95, of Vancouver, Wash. She died at Cascade Park Care Center on Jan. 12, 2012.

A celebration of life was held Saturday at Ceres Seventh-day Adventist.

Born February 1916 in Bridgeport, Conn., to Matthew and Elizabeth Pollack, Mary graduated from Bridgeport Central High School in 1935. In 1942, Mary and her sister Pauline enrolled in nursing school in Norwalk, Conn., and they graduated with nursing degrees in 1945. She and Pauline were invited by Dr. Waldolf Paulus and Dr. Henry Schumacher to join them in their new clinic in Turlock, presently know as Turlock Medical Clinic. Mary accepted the job in 1947, and worked there until her retirement in 1981. After Pauline's death, Mary settled in Vancouver in 2000. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church since she was the age of three, being a member at Slovak, Turlock and Ceres. She was active in the church and held several positions: Sabbath school superintendant, primary dept. teacher, and home missions secretary.

She leaves behind several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents Matthew and Elizabeth Pollack, and siblings Anne Cameron, Emily Irene Kochevar, Pauline Pollack and Frank Pollack.
