A Mass was held Tuesday morning at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson for Mauro Garza, 84, of Hughson. He died Friday, July 15, 2005 at his home.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Lakewood Funeral Home.

Born Jan. 15, 1921, Mr. Garza was a native of Mexico and lived in Hughson for 42 years. He was an agricultural contractor. Mr. Garza was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church who enjoyed music.

He leaves behind his wife, Flerida Garza of Hughson; four children, Ruben Garza and Marianella Morales, both of Modesto, Rosendo Garza of Patterson, and Rojelio Garza of Hughson; three brothers, Onofre Garza of Hughson, Amador Garza of Garland, Texas, and Nicolas Garza of Mexico; four sisters, Melchora Garcia, San Juana Campos, Amada Rios and Maria L. Garza, all of Mexico; and 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
