Riverbank Memorial Chapel is in charge of private services for Melvin J. Rice, 86, of Riverbank. He died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at Riverbank Nursing Center.
Born Nov. 12, 1918, Mr. Rice was a native of Oklahoma and lived in Riverbank for 30 years. He was a maintenance supervisor for the Stanislaus County Parks Department for 12 years. Mr. Rice was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 748.
He leaves behind his wife, Ermil "Erma" W. Rice of Riverbank; 12 children, Jackie Rice of Oklahoma, Melvin "Steve" Rice and Karen Jobe, both of Modesto, David L. Rice of Keyes, Bill Hicks of Ceres, Jim Hicks of Ceres, Frieda Kimoto of Coulterville, Betty Long of Pioneer, Janie Medieros and Linda Boer, both of Jackson, Judy Camp of Oklahoma and Joann Baker of Riverbank; 39 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
