A Mass was held Thursday at St. Jude's Catholic Church for Mercedes Stefanoni Martinez, 81, of Ceres. She died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Hy-Lond Convalescent Hospital.
Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park under the direction of the Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs.
Born April 15, 1923, Mrs. Martinez was a native of Mexico and lived in Ceres for 22 years. She was homemaker, and was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church.
She leaves behind her husband, Pablo Martinez of Ceres; 10 children, Herlinda Martinez and Blanca Martinez, both of Ceres, Antonio Martinez of Tennessee, George Martinez of Fresno, Maria E. Martinez of Turlock, Pablo Martinez Jr. of Visalia, Guadalupe Martinez of Lodi, and Jaime Martinez, Jose Juan Martinez and Salvador Martinez, all of Modesto; two sisters, Adela Stefanoni and Carmen Stefanoni, both of Mexico; and 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
