Arrangements were handled for Michael Benton Coons, 52, of Ceres. He died July 14, 2011.
Born Sept. 30, 1958 in Denver, Colo., Michael was raised there and has resided in the Modesto area since 1970. He attended Modesto High School and worked the last 20 years as a local handy man. In the 1980s Mr. Coons was employed by both Foster Farms as a foreman and at Bronco Winery as a production worker. He was known for his entertaining method of story telling. In his younger years he enjoyed hiking and spending time outdoors in the Yosemite area. Mike enjoyed collecting and restoring antique radios and watches.
He leaves behind two children, Michael Coons and Katherine Coons, both of Ceres; his mother, Hilda Coons of Modesto; three brothers. Tim Coons and Sean Coons, both of Modesto, and Lee Kailer of Medford, Ore.; and companion Cherie Hardin.
