Oscar M. Navarrete

A Mass was held Friday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church for Oscar Mario Navarrete, 71, of Tracy. He died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005 at his home.

Interment was at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma under the direction of Fry Memorial Chapel.

Born May 4, 1934, Mr. Navarrete was a native of Osorno, Chile, and lived in Tracy for one year, and previously lived in Ceres. He served in the Navy and retired as a senior chief-corpsman. Mr. Navarrete was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He enjoyed reading, traveling to Miami, and sports, especially soccer.

He leaves behind his wife, Violeta Maria Navarrete of Tracy; three children, Mario A. Navarrete of Tracy, Martin A. Navarrete of Modesto and Lucy Navarrete of Sunnyvale; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister.
