A Mass was held Sunday at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Paul W. Lind, 73, of Ceres. He died Feb. 25, 2008 of a long illness.

Born Sept. 18, 1934 in Chicago, Ill., to Art and Frieda Lind, Art moved to Modesto in 1954 where he learned the ceramic tile trade at Star Tie. He became a contractor in 1964, installing tile with his Artistic Tile and Marble until 1978. He then built homes in Modesto and Ceres. After a period of semi-retirement he was a salesman for Barton Overhead Door.

Mr. Lind enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with family. Before his illness he was a Eucharist minister and Sacristan at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres. He was also a member of the Ceres Lions Club, California Striped Bass Association and numerous other groups.

He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Beverly Lind of Ceres; his children, Dianna Mathew of Modesto, Dan Lind of Camdenton, Mo., Brent Lind of Everett, Wash., and Brian Lind of Ceres; his brother, Art Lind; and 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice Kay.
