Richard Henry

Richard Henry passed away surrounded by family on Dec. 26, 2013.

He was born in Los Angeles to Kermit Nelson Henry and Daisy Agnes Fernandes Henry Morris. After graduating from Ceres High in 1963 he served in the U.S. Army and made his home in the Modesto area afterwards. He worked as a mechanic for Goodyear Tire, Alfred Matthews Auto Dealership and Mataga's Auto Dealership of Tracy. He was a member and on the board directors of the Oakdale Sportsmen's Club and a member of the Sundowners RV club.

He is survived by his wife, Phala Henry; and his children, Janie Marie Henry (Gil) Gilbertson, Michele (Duane) Smith and Todd Wallace; his sister, Ruthie Wassell of Modesto; two brothers, Bud Henry of Florida and Tommy Morris of Groveland; his grandchildren, John Gilbertson, James Gilbertson, Megan Smoth and Eric Smith; and great-grandson Steven; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Frankie Henry and Billy Morris.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Oakdale Sportsmen's Club, 840 North Stearns Road, Oakdale (past the west end of Kerr Park).

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Oakdale Sportsmen Club or to the VFW.
