A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Acacia Cemetery, 801 Scenic Drive, Modesto, for Richard "Dick" Remington, 81, of San Carlos. The former Ceres resident died April 17, 2009 in Redwood City.

Born Oct. 17, 1927 was born in Berkeley to W.G. "Bill" and Florence Smith Remington. He moved to Ceres as a child to be near other local relatives. He attended Ceres schools until his last year of high school. After graduation from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, Dick attended the College of San Mateo where he majored in engineering. Mr. Remington spent 45 years working at Stanford Research Institute, now SRI, in Menlo Park. He provided mechanical and electrical engineering technical expertise to many programs at SRI. Dick enjoyed RV camping and traveling.

He leaves behind his wife and former long-time Ceres resident Bessie Kocher Remington of San Carlos; his son, Charles Remington; and two grandsons, Michael Carlson and Steven Carlson. He was preceded in death by daughter Katherine and his parents.

Remembrances may be made to church or charity of choice.
